She and I American and Yapese Are becoming alike I’m actually becoming like her Sitting more quletly now Silently in fact We speak with our eyes Today I notice She is doing more grooming Touching her childrem Tapping them Playing with their hair Checking sores Cleaning their noses With her brown fingers Returning to our primitive Monkey selves Sitting on our perch Little grunts Checking for lice Changing position Waitlng © Corlene Van Sluizer Pohnpei, Micronesia |
